Saraswathi learned the Ankudu wood lathe from her father at age 12. Today she leads a 6-woman unit from her home. Her Ganesha figurines are among IndiaFx's most loved pieces — each one painted with five natural colours, no two exactly alike.

Rajeshwari is the third generation of Ikat weavers in her family. She manages a 12-woman cooperative and can set up a full Ikat loom in under 2 hours — a skill that took her 5 years to master. She says she weaves fastest when her grandchildren are watching.
The loom does not lie. Every mistake shows. So we make no mistakes.

Kalamkari painter · 18 years
Lakshmi paints Kalamkari stoles using a bamboo pen and natural dyes. She can draw a peacock motif freehand in under 4 minutes. Her work has been featured in exhibitions across India, but she still works from her village home.
Every line I draw is a prayer. That is why the cloth becomes sacred.

Padma creates intricate silver filigree bangles using techniques passed down through four generations. Each bangle takes 6-8 hours to complete. She trains younger women in her SHG, ensuring the craft survives.
Silver is soft. But our hands are strong.

Annapurna specializes in mirror-work embroidery on cotton stoles. She leads a 15-woman SHG and has trained over 40 women in the last decade. Her work is known for its precision — she can place 200 mirrors on a single stole without a single crooked edge.
When I stitch, I forget everything else. That is my meditation.

Vimala hand-prints cotton fabrics using carved wooden blocks and natural dyes. She can align a 12-block pattern perfectly across 5 meters of fabric without a single misprint. Her floral motifs are inspired by the gardens around her village home.
The block is my brush. The fabric is my canvas.
